Roger Beasley was appointed Assistant Director and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Office of Science and Technology (OST) on November 1, 2015. In this role, he is responsible for strategy, planning, management, and delivery of Information Technology and Information Services for the Bureau, along with overall responsibility for ATF’s forensic services, which includes ATF’s laboratories and forensic auditors.

Mr. Beasley began his career in the Department of Justice (DOJ) in October 2003, as the Special Assistant to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the DOJ. In 2005, he was promoted to Director of the Operations Services Staff within the Office of the CIO. In that capacity, he was responsible for delivery of the department’s IT services to the Justice Management Division, along with the department’s Senior Leadership Offices – approximately 4,000 end users (to include the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, Associate Attorney General, and the Solicitor General). Additionally, Mr. Beasley was responsible for the operation of the department’s two Enterprise Data Centers located in Rockville, Maryland, and Dallas, Texas, and enterprise services provided through these centers. While in this role, Mr. Beasley was responsible for a budget in excess of $200M, a staff of nearly 200 federal employees, and approximately 150 contractors.

Before joining DOJ, Mr. Beasley worked in the higher education environment at multiple universities. His responsibilities included strategic direction and support for all aspects of technology used within the Universities including end user computing (administrative and academic), communication systems (telephones, IT networks, video delivery), and audio-video presentation systems.

Mr. Beasley’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with dual areas of concentration - Business Management & Computer Information Systems.
