Description

One of the missions of government offices of inspector general (OIG) is to detect and root out fraud.  The type of misuse of government funds can range from disaster recovery, procurement, labor racketeering, unemployment insurance, and tax fraud, to name a few.

The pandemic has raised the bar on fraud prevention, and this discussion will feature a team of experts from two agencies who have played pivotal roles during this period of social distance.

  • The Health and Human Services OIG investigates fraud In Federal health care programs, including Medicare and Medicaid. Fraud diverts scarce resources meant to pay for the care of patients and other beneficiaries into the pockets of fraudsters.

  • The U.S. Postal Service OIG works to maintain the integrity of the U.S. mail. We’ll hear from a team of experts about combating election fraud.

This panel will discuss and demonstrate the off the shelf technology tools they are using to conduct criminal, civil, and administrative investigations of fraud and misconduct.
