Digital Defense: The Evolving Threat Landscape
This event raises about $40,000 each year. These proceeds are used by AFFIRM’s scholarship and grant program to support STEM educational opportunities for students attending DC area accredited institutions and nonprofit organizations that focus on STEM leadership and workforce development programs, and by the US Cyber Challenge, which attracts, trains and recruits the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
This special annual summit is a place for important discussions about the challenges of Cybersecurity.
COVID-19 has fueled an uptick in cyber threats with phishing attacks increasing globally between February and April from 5,000 per week to over 200,000 per week. Not surprisingly, the areas of heaviest emphasis were government, healthcare, critical infrastructure and consumers.
Agencies have adapted quickly to contain the cyber risk as government’s workforce transitioned to virtually 100% telework. Recent reports estimate that there will be a staggering 3.5 million unfilled cyber positions in 2021. The Federal government is the #1 target for cybercriminals, so, in the face of this shortage of cyber talent, how can government organizations succeed in the race for cyber talent?
Join AFFIRM and the US Cyber Challenge on Thursday, October 8 for an in-depth look at how government can effectively build a strong defense to mitigate the growing threat from cybercriminals.
Learning Objectives:
-
Delineate the barriers to recruit and retain sufficient cybersecurity talent for government.
-
Detail the role of the Department of Homeland Security in maintaining America’s wave of life.
-
Review how the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) works to defend against today’s threats and build more secure and resilient infrastructure for the future.
